Hi my name is Elyssa Bellofatto and I am 18 years old. I have been a leader in my jewish youth orgainzation, BBYO, for the past 4 and a half years. BBYO is a pluarlistic teen led organization, and from it I have been presented with a life changing oppurtuinity.
April 20-May 4th I hope to begin on this journey. "The March of the Living is a two week travel experience and a BBYO tradition where Jewish teens from five continents converge in Poland and in Israel for an emotional journey that will impact our sense of history, perspective and identity. The program occurs annually each spring in order to commemorate Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, marching from Auschwitz to Birkenau, and to celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut, Israeli Independence Day, dancing in the streets of Jerusalem."
I am excited to be participating in Plant Your Way to Israel, raising funds to support Jewish National Fund’s critical forestry efforts while at the same time raising funds for my own visit to Israel! I have always wanted to visit Israel and the opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for such a great cause at the same time is such a privilege.
The program is simple: Half of all the funds I raise will be put in a special account for my trip, and the other half will go towards JNF’s green initiatives in Israel. I’m raising funds to specifically support JNF’s forestry work – work that has helped Israel enter the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees. But their work is not done and I hope I can count on your support.
Everyone I know that has gone said the experience has been life changing. But the only way I can attend is with the genoristy of all of you. Every dollar will help, and I am beyond grateful for anything you can give.
