I'm so excited to be heading to Israel this Spring as a part of NFTY-EIE. Ever since my first summer at Eisner as a seven year old, I looked forward to participating in a NFTY Israel program. Spending the summer in Israel is viewed by many as the culmination of the Jewish summer camp experience.
I learned about EIE, first from a formal presentation, and then through personal stories shared by friends and mentors that participated in the program. It seems so amazing to me that as a high school student I can experience living and studying in Israel for 4 months rather than just being a tourist for the summer.
Students are asked to find a way to pay for part of the program themselves. I thought, why not do this as part of a program that will benefit me and others? JNF's Plant Your Way to Israel seemed like a perfect way to do this.
The program is simple: Half of all the funds I raise will be put in a special account for my trip, and the other half will go towards JNF’s green initiatives in Israel. I’m raising funds to specifically support JNF’s forestry work – work that has helped Israel enter the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees. But their work is not done and I hope I can count on your support.
My family, Eisner Camp and NFTY-EIE have been extremely generous in providing funds to send me on this incredible journey. I'm now asking for support from my extended family, friends, neighbors and community. If everyone on my list contributes $36, I will easily meet or exceed my goal. All Plant Your Way to Israel donations are tax-deductible.
I plan to document my Israel experience through social media and hope that you'll follow me along the way.
